About Us

Our Faculty

The Faculty of Applied Arts and Technology is one of the five (5) faculties of the Takoradi Technical University. It started as the Painting and Decoration Unit of the Building Department in 1952. In 1992, the Fashion Department was created to run the HND Fashion Programme. Other departments were created with time, and, by 2008, the School of Applied Arts was created with Seven (7) departments. The name was changed to the Faculty of Applied Arts and Technology in 2016 in line with the conversion of the Polytechnic to university status. The Faculty has developed into one of the major academic hubs of the University. 

Vision Statement

Their vision is to be the most preferred Applied Arts and Technology faculty for
hands-on training and allied research and to produce world-class human resources for national and global development.

Mission Statement 

Their mission is to be dedicated to competency-based training in Arts and Design
with industrial collaboration to enhance entrepreneurial and employment
opportunities.

Goals and  Objectives

The goals and objectives of the Faculty are to: 

  • Contribute to employment and human resource capacity building through competency-based tertiary education;

 

  •  Provide other related services such as research and consultancy to enhance productivity in industry; as well as

 

  • Offer Higher National Diploma (HND), Degree and Master of Technology programmes in selected areas required for middle-level and higher level employment capacity building.
